Ahmaud Arbery’s prosecutor Jackie Johnson has been indicted on charges of violating her oath as a public officer and obstructing a police officer.

The charge was in connection to Johnson’s alleged actions surrounding the investigation of the fatal shooting of Arbery. According to the source, the accident occurred while he was jogging through a Glynn County subdivision on February 23, 2020. 

Reportedly, she was arrested on September 8, 2021, Wednesday morning and later released on a $10,000 bond. Meanwhile, Wanda Cooper-Jones, Arbery’s mother during a virtual press conference said that Johnson should serve time in jail. She also added that Johnson is just as much to hold accountable as the three guys who actually did this to Ahmaud.

Following that, the file has not yet been closed and further investigation will be taken in order to pursue justice. According to Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, a felony to violate the oath of a public office carries a sentence to 1 to 5 years in prison. 

Further, he also added that the charge of obstruction and hindering a law enforcement officer is a misdemeanor that carries up to 12 months.
