Richard Houston, a Mesquite police officer, was shot in the line of duty and died.  Following that, at this critical moment, people are keen to hear more about the shooting case.

According to the Mesquite Police Department, a Mesquite police officer was fatally injured in a gunfight outside a grocery store parking lot on Friday afternoon.

The wounded officer died while being treated at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Dallas, according to Mesquite Police Chief David Gill.

As per Mesquite Police Capt. Stephen Biggs, the shooting occurred about 1:40 p.m. in the parking lot of an Albertson’s grocery store in the 1500 block of South Beltline Road, when the officer was called to a complaint of a disturbance involving two women.

Later, the officer and the suspect were brought to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. The cop was shot twice, but the suspect was only hit once.

Following that shooting, the officer is no longer alive. The suspect, however, is being held at a hospital with gunshot wounds.

According to Gill, the police officer suspected of being Richard Houston from Texas was a good friend and a nice cop. He asked that they remember him and his family in their prayers.

Likewise, the individual suspected of the shooting was in serious condition with a gunshot wound at the time of the incident. His identity has not yet been revealed.
