Edward Gatling shot two Dekalb County investigators and ran.

The law enforcement officers from multiple agencies are currently searching him all over the Lithonia area. This incident is the second in less than 24 hours. On Tuesday night, a Clayton County officer got shot to death while responding to a drive-by shooting in Rex.

Field Training Officer Henry Laxson was among the four people killed, including the shooter. Another officer and a 12-year-old boy got injured in the incident. The boy’s condition was critical early this morning.

Who Is Edward Gatling?

Edward Gatling is the identity of the person behind the shooting of two fugitive investigators in Dekalb County.

Edward Gatling is the alleged person who is currently on the run after shooting two DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office investigators.

The incident took place early morning on Wednesday 1 December, while the investigators were serving an arrest warrant at a house on Wellington Circle, Lithonia. The injured got hospitalized initially at Emory Hillandale Hospital and later at Grady Memorial Hospital. Now, they are conscious and alert.

As for the identity of the suspect, it is Edward Allen Gattling. There was an aggravated assault with murder intentions warrant issued in October on him.

Chief Randy Akies said that the shooting took place at about 7:30 a.m. He also added that the suspect fired shots at the fugitive investigators during the endeavor. Two got shot, one in the leg and another in the abdomen area.

He also showed his conviction stating that they won’t stop today until they find the individual. At present, they are actively looking for the suspect within the Lithonia area. 

A swarm of law enforcement officers from multiple agencies is on the scene to facilitate the search. Such heavy deployment led to the partial closure of Covington Highway between Phillips and Panola roads. Motorists have the alternative of using I-20.

The officers even woke up Muneer Pittman, who lives near the shooting location. They came to his house with guns, scaring the guy.

Currently, there is a reward worth $20 thousand for information leading to Edward’s arrest.
