Riyaz, unfortunately, failed a roadside alcohol test, according to Schmidt. He was then quickly transferred to the hospital with minor injuries and “medically cleared” before providing a breath sample that led to the accusations.
Schmidt does not name the accused in the video, but sources with inside knowledge of the case indicate that the man charged is Hussein.
According to the news release, Hussein, who has worked for Toronto police for 33 years, has been suspended with pay.
On February 10, he will appear in court in Oshawa.

According to OPP, Hussein, 54, of Pickering, was charged with reckless driving and open liquor following a two-car incident shortly after 7 p.m. The driver rear-ended a delivery vehicle, according to a tweet from the OPP’s Highway Safety Division, and suffered minor injuries.
Hussein is reported to be suspended from the Toronto Police Department. He could not be reached for comment right away.
